It’s serviceable. Sometimes there are good deals and the frozen selection is solid. They locked one of the entrances permanently and created a very constrained entrance and exit with gates and a receipt scanner. It makes you feel like you’re shopping at an airport TSA line. I sometimes wonder what would happen if there was an emergency and everyone had to exit this store in a hurry.

Even though I have been going to this Safeway 40+ years, I would say that most problems are due to poor management.
I have to give a shout out to 3 exceptional employees at this store.
1) Angela in the butcher shop is always so kind, professional and accommodating.
2) Paul is a local guy who has been at this store for many years. He is always helpful and funny.
3) Felicia has always gone out of her way for me. I have seen her help out her other fellow employees and seem like a go to person.
That's my shout-out for these 3.
I hope management appreciates these 3 employees who I am always happy to see when I shop.

I recently visited this sushi bar inside Safeway and was blown away by the quality of the food and the exceptional service. The sushi is incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The staff is welcoming and attentive, creating a delightful dining experience. And also there is weekly promotion for members on friday. Highly recommend this place for any sushi lover!

The stock levels are pretty good. However, it's a bit annoying to leave the store because you have to walk around to self checkout then back to the other door. When people are in a rush and try to exit through the front door, the security guard will harass them, especially when they are black. He claims it's "very important" to not exit through the front door but wouldn't explain why ?

I've found order pick up to be great, and Nelson always has great service!

This is hands-down, the worst Safeway I’ve ever been to! The people are lovely …wonderful! I had meaningful, quirky interactions with all of them that I spoke with.
The selection, however, was if not merely limited, severely unimaginative. It made me feel like there was some kind of formula that they had to adhere to as their store was not as big as most of the other ones I’ve been to, but their choices? Honestly, their choices made no sense in some cases.
And then there’s the exorbitant prices! Either the specials were Internet coupon Only, or you had to buy huge quantities to see very little savings. Example: if you buy over 5 pounds of apples, you get a dollar off. The apples were 4 to 5 dollars a pound. And every one of the large Honeycrisp fruits had a bruise or a hole.

I understand that deliveries to stores are in the order of the route. And that stores visited earlier can lay claim to, say, 3 more Brown Cow Yogurt cartons than they were meant to get, because they were selling so many. I don’t know if that’s common practice or if it just happened at the Guerneville Safeway location frequently, but this smacks of that but also of a complete lack of planning! Why is there no eggnog for instance? ? Except for Almond Milk (lactose free) eggnog? I’m sorry, but the idea of torturing those little nuts by hooking them up to an automated milking machine means I can’t partake— no matter how great it tastes.

I’ll give them another shot, if only to pantomime with the little Hispanic produce girl again, or crack up Matt, who takes care of the Self Check Out customers with my ongoing argument with the idiot “cash register” voice, who feels the need to constantly harangue you about taking all of your items with you—when she knows damn well, down to the microgram, exactly what you have on the scale/bagging area.

O went in for a one gallon bottle of Crystal Geyser... they were all out. Safeway, you're in business to sell items. If you don't have the item, you just missed out on a sale.

I'm not a huge fan of Safeway to start with. This particular Safeway has very strict self checkout practices that reduce the appeal of this store. I'll avoid this one in the future.
