I haven’t shopped at Medizin in well over a year since their customer service has gone to hell and they have such a limited menu, but I thought about hitting them up on my little birthday dispensary tour. I called the store 30 minutes before I even got there and asked if they offered any birthday specials. The guy on the phone told me that I could get a free pre-roll in store and never mentioned anything about needing to make a purchase in order to get it. I get to Medizin, check in and my budtender was actually super dope and a really nice guy. He recommended a couple of different strains, but it’s Medizin, so you know they’re not gonna have everything they advertise. We find a pre-roll that works for me and he tells me to meet him at his register. He goes on with the purchase and says that he has to get a manager to put in the code, completely understandable. He approaches a group of 4 employees, and tells them he needs a birthday pre-roll code. One of the manager says something along the lines of “I guess I’ll do it, godDAMN” and comes over and puts the code in without even looking at me. After he puts it in, he looks down and says “is this all he’s getting?” My budtender looks at him and says “yeah man, he’s doing the dispensary world tour today”. The manager, Gaylen, looked annoyed and said “ridiculo—“ and cut himself before he could finish the word. He then let in an annoyed, exaggerated sigh and said “alright, I’m gonna let it rock this time but next time it’s with a purchase”. Just completely smug, like I was some bum coming in begging for free stuff. I told him that I don’t have to get the pre-roll and he was like “nah man go ahead it’s okay”. I walk out feeling so disrespected and looked down on over a $9 pre-roll. I WOULD’VE bought something else if it would’ve been explained to me in a way that didn’t make me feel like a jerk. I asked the lady at check in for his name, and went back out to the car and ultimately decided to call P13’s customer service line to tell them my story. I still felt upset and honestly felt wrong taking the pre-roll so I walked back in to speak with another manager and give the pre-roll back. To my surprise, Gaylen was in the box. I approached him and said “hey man, I don’t feel comfortable taking this pre-roll after the interaction we just had so I’m just gonna give it back to you” and laid it on the counter, in the exit bag. Immediately, without any kind of remorse for the situation of any kind of apology, he jumps up and tells me that I can’t leave the pre-roll, it’s a state and compliance issue. His smug, arrogant, “i don’t care” tone again pissed me off and I wish I would’ve just turned around and left at that point, but I asked him “so what happens if I just turn around and leave it there?” He tells me again that it’s a state and compliance issue and if I leave it then I’ll be banned from all Medizin and P13 stores. Finally I just look at him and ask him what his deal is? He says “my deal, where I’m GIVING you free stuff?” I told him about his attitude and replayed the entire situation to him. He straight up denied saying “I guess I’ll do it, godDAMN” and told me that he never said “ridiculous”. I looked at him completely dumbfounded since I’m not just gonna make all of that up out of thin air, and he then told me that he wasn’t going to argue with me and I could either take the pre-roll and leave or leave it and get banned. I told him that I’ll just give it to a homeless person and they’ll have a better birthday than what I’m having. He smugly smirks and shrugs his shoulders and tells me “that’s fine, have a GREAT birthday”. At some point I told him that it was absolutely crazy to treat someone like this and that I was so sorry that he was so miserable, and he looks at me and says “I’m sorry you feel entitled to things you shouldn’t have”. Like excuse me, all you had to do was tell me that I had to make a purchase and not be a jerk about it. Again, I HAD NO PROBLEM MAKING A PURCHASE. I looked at him and said “F*** you. Ban me for that” and left. Gaylen, do better.
